SWANSEA BAY REGIONAL EQUALITY COUNCIL WELCOMES AN EXCHANGE STUDENT FROM FRANCE

Nayima’s Statement –

Volunteering at SBREC has given me a great opportunity to improve on my communication skills and to learn many new skills by working with the administration team in completing tasks. I have also had the opportunity to work on the Jobs Employment Training Scheme (JETS), helping the two project leaders with various tasks. I decided to volunteer because for me it was important.

During my placement at SBREC I have improved English language skills greatly as I am from France and my first language is French.

Having been in Swansea on placement has given me plenty of practice to improve my English speaking skills when dealing with SBREC clients. My experience has not only been fun but has also provided me with a chance to make new friends and try new things. I enjoyed working as part of a team and the staff at SBREC have been very helpful. Currently I am studying and aiming to complete my training for my BTEC Secretarial in France. The ‘real office’ experience will be invaluable in developing my skills further as I start on the journey of seeking employment in a real office environment in France – Nayima

Nayima Mahamoudou had her eyes opened wide when she was invited by the Lord Mayor of Swansea, Cllr Richard Lewis to the Lord Mayor’s Parlour at Guildhall, Swansea. Nayima was asked by the Lord Mayor to sign his official Visitor’s Book and then treated to some refreshments while he talked about the important civic role that a Lord Mayor plays in the city.

The Lord Mayor then kindly presented Nayima with gifts to take back to France with her.
