Voices Have Spoken

We are happy to inform you that Swansea Bay REC has been successful in securing funding support from Big Lottery Fund to deliver an advocacy and advice and guidance service through a 3-years project called Voices Have Spoken (VHS) to tackle hate crime incidents and discrimination against race, religion and disability.

The project being delivered in Swansea Bay area covering City and County of Swansea and Neath & Port Talbot County Borough Council will also be recruiting volunteers to act as champions against hate crime incidents and support delivery of following services:

  • Deliver one-to-one advice, guidance and support to BME and non-BME wider communities through outreach work in Swansea and Neath & Port Talbot.
  • Provide advocacy, advice and support to challenge, report, pursue and tackle hate crime incidents and discrimination on the basis of individual’s race, religion and disability.
  • Develop partnerships with community, voluntary and statutory sector organisations and agencies and private employers and businesses to achieve the above and contribute to improved community cohesion.
  • Organise events to raise awareness and enhance confidence amongst communities and individuals to report hate crime incidents.

The VHS team comprises of following staff:

  3. Aminur Rahman, Community Engagement Lead Officer
  4. Dorota Orzeszek, Volunteer Coordinator
